Here is the reason why Ravindra Jadeja is not playing in Asia Cup 2022 Super 4

Team India is currently participating in Asia Cup 2022. The team has started well with confident victories against Pakistan and Hong Kong. Super Four is the next stage of the competition and India has already qualified for it. However, they will be without the services of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the remainder of the tournament. BCCI recently made the announcement. Here, we take a look at the reason why Ravindra Jadeja is not playing in Asia Cup 2022 Super 4.

Ravindra Jadeja will not be a part of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4

The Saurashtra all-rounder has been vulnerable to a lot of injuries in recent months. His knee has been troublesome and it has yet again become the cause for Jaddu’s absence from an important tournament. Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and hence, he will not be a part of the Asia Cup 2022 anymore.

Axar Patel was initially named as one of the standby for the Indian squad. The Gujarat cricketer will now replace Jadeja in the main squad. It would not be a surprise if he even makes it to the XI directly.

A big miss for Team India

Jadeja turned up in great form with the bat against Pakistan. India required a left-hander in the middle order and hence, Jadeja was promoted. He was the joint top-scorer for India along with Virat Kohli as India crossed the line in a tense chase.

In Jadeja’s absence, India might have to change its combination. Unlike Jadeja, Axar is yet to become a reliable batter who can bat at No.4 or No.5. Therefore, someone like Rishabh Pant could get a chance, meaning that the likes of Dinesh Karthik could miss out. India had struck a good balance with their squad against Pakistan. It now needs to be seen how they would adapt to the new situation. India’s next game will be on the upcoming Sunday.
