Here is the reason why Arshdeep Singh bowled the most expensive over in IPL history against Mumbai Indians

Punjab Kings picked up a vital win against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. However, if not for the brilliance of Arshdeep Singh in the final over, PBKS could have ended on the losing side. On that note, here, we take a look at the reason why Arshdeep Singh bowled the most expensive over in IPL history against Mumbai Indians.

Most expensive over in IPL history

Well, it is not in terms of runs that Arshdeep Singh is a part of this record. The Punjab pacer broke the stumps twice in the final over the second inning against Mumbai Indians. While Tilak Varma was out first, it was the turn of Nehal Wadhera in the next ball. In both cases, the middle stump went flying after being broken.

As per reports, a set of LED stumps costs a total of INR 30 Lakhs. In IPL history, such a situation has never been witnessed, especially after the introduction of LED stumps. Therefore, in this context, in terms of cost, Arshdeep did bowl the most expensive over in the history of the tournament.

A fine performance by the young pacer

In the tournament, so far, Arshdeep was yet to put up a defining show. However, against one of the tougher sides in the competition, the youngster brought out his best. While he was brilliant in the 18th over to stem the flow of runs after giving away a six on the first ball, it was better in the final over.

Arshdeep now holds the Purple Cap and if he can take wickets like this in the death overs, he is sure to wear it by the end of the competition, as well. PBKS now has a fine bowling attack. If Kagiso Rabada also comes into the XI, it would be difficult for many batting attacks to tackle this fiery combination.
