“You have to feel for Markram”, Fans on X react after Pat Cummins reportedly gets appointed as captain of SRH for IPL 2024

IPL 2024 is all set to start on March 22nd. Hence, there has been some activity going on before the season. Now, as per Cricbuzz, Sunrisers Hyderabad are all set to appoint Pat Cummins as their new skipper. Here, we take a look at how fans on X reacted after Pat Cummins reportedly gets appointed as captain of SRH for IPL 2024.

Pat Cummins is likely to be the SRH captain for IPL 2024

While Kane Williamson led the side in IPL 2022, it was Aiden Markram in IPL 2023. However, under Markram last year, the team had a poor run. They were one of the teams that finished at the bottom of the table. Now, it appears that the management is all set to make a change. This is despite Markram helping Sunrisers Eastern Cape win their second straight SA20 trophy.

Pat Cummins was hired for an amount in excess of INR 20 Cr in IPL 2024 Auctions. With such an expensive signing, SRH had to make the best use of him. In the past few months, Cummins has been successful as a skipper, winning the WTC and then the 2023 ODI World Cup. He is also a good bowler and adds value to the batting department. With Daniel Vettori as the Head Coach, Cummins was going to get the favour because the duo also worked together at Australia. Hence, it comes as no surprise that Pat Cummins will be appointed as the new skipper of the franchise.

Fans on Twitter, now called X, were not too happy with the move. However, there were a few fans who felt that this was a positive move. That said, now that Markram is not the skipper, he could be dropped from the XI and SRH could also play Wanindu Hasaranga, further strengthening the bowling attack of the side.
