” Foreign players who have played IPL till 40. Raina is 35 ” Irfan Pathan Reacts After Suresh Raina Goes Unsold In IPL 2022 Auctions

One of the big surprises of IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions was Mr IPL Suresh Raina going unsold. Having set his base price at INR 2 Cr, Raina was unsold in the first round and did not feature in the accelerated rounds. Hence, the auctions ended with Raina not finding a franchise. In this article, we take a look at how Irfan Pathan reacted after Suresh Raina goes unsold in IPL 2022 Auctions.

Suresh Raina goes unsold in IPL 2022 Auctions

Suresh Raina is one of the highest run-getters in the history of the league. In 205 encounters, he scored 5528 runs and won plenty of games for his franchise. For a long part of the tournament, Raina stood at No.1 in the list of highest run-getters.

However, after losing his spot in Team India, Raina’s form dropped completely. He also retired from international cricket in 2020. Adding to this, Raina remained largely inactive in domestic cricket. Hence, no franchises showed interest in the player. Hence, as things stand, he will not play IPL 2022.

Irfan Pathan reacts to Mr IPL not getting a bidder

Irfan Pathan, who has played with Suresh Raina, reacted after the latter failed to extract a bid at the auctions. Here is what the former India all-rounder had to say:

Actually, Irfan Pathan’s comment is right in many aspects. The likes of Faf du Plessis and Chris Gayle were well past their thirties and yet played in the competition. However, Suresh Raina, who is still 35 years old, could not get a bid. Considering the fact that Raina is a domestic option plus he has plenty of experience, it is surprising that no team spent their money on the player.

Meanwhile, it seems that CSK has moved on from Raina. They did not look interested in the player and instead, hired the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa.
