Delhi Capitals has defeated five-time champions Mumbai Indians by four wickets in the second game of IPL 2022. At one point, Delhi Capitals were out of the game. Batting first, Mumbai Indians made a strong score of 177 for the loss of five wickets. Although Delhi Capitals started brightly, they lost a few quick wickets. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell did not disturb the scorers much and hence, DC was looking at a mountain to climb.
However, DC got momentum in the form of Shardul Thakur, who scored 22 runs in just eleven balls. He put his team within reach of the target but DC did not have too many batters to rely on. Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel were the only recognized batters left and with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah in the opposition, it felt that Mumbai would cruise to its first victory of an opening game since 2012. However, that was not to be.
Lalit and Axar made 75 runs in the last 30 balls to put points on the table for Delhi. They attacked the right bowlers and played intelligently to score their runs. It was a stunning show because not many expected them to pull it off. Eventually, Delhi Capitals won the game by four wickets.
