Scoring back-to-back hundreds in Vijay Hazare trophy is not that easy because it’s not just the volume of runs which matters in the shorter versions of the game, it’s also about the tempo at which the runs are scored. So, consistency is never a straightforward prospect in 50-over or 20-over cricket.
But, let alone scoring two back-to-back hundreds, what can be said about the form of those players who have scored 4 or more than 4 back to back hundreds in the Vijay Hazare trophy? Only two players in the history of Indian domestic cricket have been able to do this to date.

Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal had become the first Indian batsman to cross the three-figure mark in 4 games in a row in the Vijay Hazare trophy when the competition had taken place post-COVID pandemic in 2020-21.
Padikkal had scored more than 700 runs in List A cricket that season and it was his form in India’s domestic 50-over tournament which had earned him a place in India’s national side for the Sri Lanka tour when all senior players were in England for the test series and WTC final. The left-hander, however, didn’t replicate his form in the next two Vijay Hazare editions.
Narayan Jagadeesan
Narayan Jagadeesan, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy this year, has gone one step ahead of Padikkal and has scored 5 back to back hundreds in the tournament. Jagadeesan’s 5th hundred actually turned out to be a double hundred and the right-hander finished with the world’s highest List A score ever.
Jagadeesan could have become the first player in history today to score a 300 in a List A match, but he got out on 277 against Arunachal Pradesh. It remains to be seen if Jaggi’s rich vein of form earns him a place in India’s 50-over squad anytime soon.
