WWE SmackDown World Cup: Is Mustafa Ali Indian or Pakistani?

Mustafa Ali has been working up the ranks to make a mark on the WWE. Ali is regarded as one of the most athletically sound superstars to step between the ropes. The man of different cultures, Mustafa Ali is known to be a major attraction when it comes to in-ring acumen.

The 450-splash expert started his professional wrestling debut in 2003. He began on the independent circuit wrestling for various promotions such as All-American Wrestling (AAW), Freelance Wrestling, GALLI Lucha Libre, IWA Mid-South, Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) and National Wrestling Alliance. He wrestled during the day and worked as a police officer during night shifts.

Signing with WWE was the launchpad for Mustafa Ali

Mustafa Ali made his first appearance for the WWE in 2016 competing in the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He replaced Brazillian wrestler Zumbi who could not compete due to visa issues. However, Ali lost to Lince Darado in the first round. Ali then began appearing on NXT, competing with various upcoming WWE superstars in the developmental territory.

His next stop was becoming a part of the Cruiserweight division competing in WWE’s 205 Live brand. He spent his tenure battling the some of the cruiserweight talents and chasing the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Furthermore, he spent the next few years in mid-card feuds on the main roster. One of the most notable storylines for Ali was being revealed as the leader of the terrorizing faction ‘Retribution.’

Leading a pack of upcoming WWE talent, it looked like the resurgence Ali needed to succeed to the top. However those plans were nixed due to the faction’s failure to garner meaningful reactions. Since then, Ali has been largely absent from WWE programming or featured in lower mid-card feuds. He even publicly requested for his release on certain ocassions.

Is Mustafa Ali Indian?

Mustafa Ali is billed from Illinois, USA. He is of Pakistani and Indian origin; however, he has only represented Pakistan during his stay in the WWE.
