Twitter exploded as Lingard’s first goal of the season in the last minute sank the Foxes

Breaking a drought of almost two and a half years, Jesse Lingard finally netted a goal that sent Manchester United hammer and tongs into the UEFA Champion’s League.

Despite a cagey start to the affair and making fortunate escapes as Vardy flipped the woodwork with a back-header, United clawed back towards the end of the first half only to be thwarted by Kasper Schmeichel.

As soon as the second half resumed, Brendan Rogers’ wards summoned more vim to secure the full three points that could have propelled them to the European contention. However, this is where things took a dramatic turn as a brilliant throughball from Bruno Fernandes was collected brilliantly by Martial who was clipped in the box by a clumsy Evans. Fernandes made life difficult for the Foxes with a cool finish.

Now to make matters entertaining, United slammed the final nail on the Leicester coffin ad Schmeichel in an attempt to dodge past Lingard, ended up giving away the ball for the United midfield to caress home into an empty net. This time Lingard made no mistake and United were through to Europe.

However, out of all the players the least likely to score for United was Lingard who made the fullest use of a howler and ended his drought of netters as hus last goal came against Cardiff in 2018.

This is where Twitter got extremely excited and started showering love and smiles on Lingard, through a few witty and sarcastic tweets. We will look at the top tweets as the microblogging site exploded with them.
