“Everyone can’t be Shoaib Akhtar” – Shahid Afridi reacts to Shoaib Akhtar’s comment on Shaheen Afridi’s injury during ICC T20 WC 2022 final

Former Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar tore into left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi for not turning up on the pitch after sustaining a knee injury during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final between Pakistan and England.

Shaheen Afridi’s absence turned out to be a massive setback for the Pakistan cricket team as the Green Shirts lost the crucial encounter in the final showdown. Jos Buttler-led England cricket team won the final with an over to spare and lifted their second T20 World Cup.

During the passage of the play, Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had his knee injury deteriorate as he could just bowl just 2.1 overs before he walked off the field.

Meanwhile, former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi has responded to Shoaib Akhtar’s remark on Shaheen Afridi’s injury during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final against England.

For the unversed, Shahid Afridi’s son-in-law is Shaheen Shah Afridi. It is quite obvious that Afridi would spring to Shaheen’s defence when someone criticized his son-in-law unwantedly.

Shahid Afridi came up with a blunt response to Shoaib Akhtar’s remark by adding that everyone can’t be Shoaib Akhtar. Furthermore, he added that it is really quite tough to play with an injury even if you take injections and painkillers.

By doing so, there are chances that the injury might turn from bad to worse according to Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan captain requested everyone to leave Shoaib Akhtar alone.

Besides that, in a light-hearted conversation with Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi jokingly said that Shoaib Akhtar took several injections that he can’t walk now.
