2 IPL coaches who had a disappointing campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup

A few coaches in the Indian Premier League took up roles in the 2023 ODI World Cup. These coaches have had experience in India. Since the tournament was happening in India, naturally, these individuals were in demand. Most of such coaches such as Daniel Vettori and Stephen Fleming have enjoyed a good run. However, a few of them did not have the desirable tournament. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two IPL coaches who had a disappointing campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Morne Morkel (Fast-bowling coach of LSG) – Bowling coach of Pakistan

Currently a coach at LSG, Morkel recently had to resign as the bowling coach of Pakistan. This was after a terrible outing in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Morne has arguably the best pace attack in the tournament at his disposal. However, the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf failed to do well. They were expensive, as well. Mohammad Wasim Jr was a good inclusion but unfortunately, he came into the squad only at the end. Some of the factors for this show can be attributed to the coach. Hence, he resigned from the role.

2) Ryan Cook (Fielding coach of SRH) – Head Coach of the Netherlands

Ryan Cook is one of the IPL coaches who had a disappointing campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Not many know that the Netherlands Head Coach served as the fielding coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. It is not sure if the franchise would retain him for the role.

Firstly, it was a great feat by Ryan Cook to bring the Netherlands to the World Cup. While a bottom-table finish was expected, in terms of performance, the Netherlands could have been better. Some of their stars such as Vikramjit Singh could not deliver while a few lost their form after a good start. That said, it is a good experience for these cricketers.
