After the auctions ended, all eyes were on the events that transpired before Charu ended up as the auctioneer. Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer had an unfortunate fall while conducting the auctions. It was a health emergency and had to be given priority. However, on the other hand, it was also important to continue the auctions. This is when IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel gave a ring to Chiru Sharma.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Charu said, “I knew the auctions were taking place here, but I hadn’t tuned in to follow up on what was going on. It was a call from Brijesh and I had to respond to an emergency. I was physically available, and auctioneering is a significant part of who I am. So, I immediately rushed.”

The 62-year-old took just around 30 minutes to reach the venue and after being briefed for a few moments, he was all set to go live. For someone who was called upon on such short notice, Charu Sharma delivered a great performance in the auction room. Accolades are now pouring from across the country for Charu’s impact at the auctions.

An official confirmation is awaited on the start of IPL 2022

Meanwhile, all eyes are on when IPL 2022 would begin. As per reports, since it is a 10-team affair, the event would start early. The end of March is set to be tentative to begin the competition. The other question is if it would happen in one city or across various other regions in the country.
