We are aware of Mohammed Siraj’s celebration which is inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo’s SIU. However, there are plenty of other celebrations in the game of cricket that are also inspired by a football player. On that note, here, we take a look at four celebrations of popular cricketers you might not know are inspired by a footballer.

1) Jasprit Bumrah – Marcus Rashford

Jasprit Bumrah‘s recent celebration is a part of this list of celebrations of popular cricketers you might not know are inspired by a footballer. Bumrah hit the iconic celebration of Rashford when he took the first wicket against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

2) KL Rahul – Philippe Coutinho

KL Rahul usually does the celebration of “cutting the noise” whenever he does well. However, he is not doing it in recent times.

This is actually inspired by Brazillian footballer Philippe Coutinho, who played for Barcelona and Liverpool in the past. This celebration has also been used by the likes of Jack Grealish, as well.

3) Matheesha Pathirana – Cristiano Ronaldo

Not many know that Matheesha Pathirana’s celebration is inspired by Ronaldo. However, it needs to be noted that Ronaldo does not often do this celebration. He started this a few years ago and was even used by players such as Siraj and Wayne Parnell during IPL 2023.

Pathirana, though, has given a twist to Ronaldo’s celebration by pulling his eyelids up. This has given his celebration a cold touch.

4) Maheesh Theekshana – Edinson Cavani

The “Archer” celebration is a unique one in the sport. This is actually inspired by Edinson Cavani, one of the most famous strikers that the game has seen.

Cavani spent most of his career at PSG. However, he also spent a few seasons in Manchester United. He is still an active player in the game.
