Shivam Mavi, who was hired for a price in excess of INR 6 Cr, is ruled out of IPL. Lucknow Super Giants had invested in the cricketer as one of the opening bowlers for the franchise. However, with him out of the season, LSG will now have to scout options elsewhere. On that note, here, we take a look at three players whom LSG could target to replace Shivam Mavi for IPL 2024.
1) Vasuki Koushik
If LSG wants a specialist for the powerplay, they could go with Vasuki Koushik. Known for his accurate lines and lengths, the Karnataka cricketer maintained a good economy in the recent domestic season.
He is quite experienced and can do the job with the new ball. KL Rahul is from Karnataka and he could have a role in deciding the replacement for Shivam Mavi.
2) Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz Khan is one of the players whom LSG could target to replace Shivam Mavi for IPL 2024. Ayush Badoni has been poor so far while Deepak Hooda is also not high on confidence. Devdutt Padikkal is also not in good form.
Considering these factors, LSG could consider going for a batter especially because Mayank Yadav is doing well as a pacer. Sarfaraz would be the ideal option for the side. He could operate at No.3 or No.4 and make the middle-order stronger. He would then be a direct option to replace Ayush Badoni in the playing XI.
3) Ishan Porel
If LSG still wants a pacer, Ishan Porel would be a good choice for them. He is a talented cricketer and could do well just like Mayank Yadav although Ishan is a different bowler.
A tall cricketer, he can be a solid choice to have with the new ball. Considering Mohsin Khan is also injured, Ishan Porel could be considered by the outfit.
