3 bench-warmers in IPL 2023 who increased their salary in IPL 2024 Auctions

IPL Auction dynamics could be very surprising at times. A player who had a horrible run in the previous campaign could go for a big sum in the next auctions. Multiple factors could aid this. The most important one, though, is the equation between the demand and the supply. On that note, here, we take a look at three bench-warmers in IPL 2023 who increased their salary in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Shivam Mavi – No games in IPL 2023

INR 6 Cr in IPL 2023 and INR 6.4 Cr in IPL 2024

When Gujarat Titans signed Shivam Mavi for INR 6 Cr in the IPL 2023 Auctions, many thought that he would play an important role for the side. However, he did not get a chance to play even one game. Instead, it was Mohit Sharma who went on to do well for the franchise.

Yet, LSG paid a higher amount to sign the cricketer at the recent auctions. After trading out Avesh Khan, LSG needed a decent Indian pacer and hence, used the bulk of their funds to land their local boy.

2) Jaydev Unadkat – 3 games in IPL 2023

INR 0.5 Cr in IPL 2023 and INR 1.6 Cr in IPL 2024

Jaydev Unadkat is one of the bench-warmers in IPL 2023 who increased their salary in IPL 2024 Auctions. It has been a few years since Jaydev has done well in the IPL. However, thanks to his experience and consistency at the domestic level, he has been getting IPL contracts.

Last year, Jaydev struggled to get games at LSG. Yet, he has been sold for a higher base price at IPL 2024 Auctions. Now, he is likely to open the bowling with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in IPL 2024.

3) Tristan Stubbs – 2 games in IPL 2023

INR 0.2 Cr in IPL 2023 and INR 0.5 Cr in IPL 2024

For Tristant Stubbs, it was more about the case of his base price. When Delhi Capitals lifted the baton in IPL 2024 Auctions, no other team challenged them and hence, Stubbs went to the franchise.

However, he had played only 2 games in IPL 2023 and hardly produced a difference. Nevertheless, he might get more chances at Delhi.
