Major Backstage Update On John Cena’s Return To WWE After Defeat At WrestleMania 39

We may see John Cena in action again before we thought we would. Reports are coming in of Cena wrestling this year once more at a PPV.

John Cena recently lost a title match to the United States champion Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. This put an end to their month-long rivalry when Theory picked up a controversial win over the 16-time world champion. After the match, John expressed his gratitude to the audience and then waved at them as well. Because of this, the fans assumed it was his last match in WWE.

When will John Cena return to WWE?

However, Xero News has reported on the Leader of Cenation’s next potential match in WWE. The wrestling news website says that Cena could wrestle again at the King and Queen of the Ring PLE.

They have tweeted, “Rumour: Early Talks of Cena Wrestling at KOTR PPV. This is considered Card Subject to Change until he agrees but it has been discussed at WWE,” The PLE will take place at Saudi Arabia next month. It’s happening on May 27th and will be the first such event since 2015, which broadcasted on the WWE Network. It will also be the first one to air on TV in two decades, since 2002. The first King Of The Ring tournament happened in 1993, and Bret Hart was its winner.

The last King of the Ring from the KOTR tournament was Xavier Woods in 2021 but it was Bad News Barrett who became the king from the 2015 KOTR PPV.

WWE didn’t conduct the tournament last year. Also, John Cena has never been the King Of The Ring in his career yet. The title doesn’t guarantee any future title shot but is a bragging right on its own. Maybe that’s one accomplishment Cena might fulfill it at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, if he indeed joins the tournament.
