Fans on Twitter erupted in joy after Australia’s Test win over South Africa in the first Test in Gabba takes India to No.2 in the ICC World Test Championship points table. They feel that India now has the given chance to qualify and backed them to win the championship.

India moves to No.2 in the ICC WTC Points Table

Australia thumped South Africa by 6 wickets in the first Test of the two-match series to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Not only this win benefited the hosts but it also favoured the Indian Cricket Team in the context of the World Test Championship.

India on the basis of the thumping 188-run win over Bangladesh moved to the third spot from fourth with 55.7%. They now have 7 wins from 13. However, Australia’s win over South Africa helped the Rohit Sharma-led side to displace the Proteas from the second spot.

Team India now stands 2nd on the points table of the WTC 2021-23 with 55.77% to their name. They now have remaining one game against Bangladesh and four against Australia. If they manage to whitewash and win by the margin of 2-0 against Bangladesh and then beat Australia by 4-0 or 3-1 or 3-0, they will be through and will most likely face the Pat Cummins-led side.
