Manchester United May Have Set Their Eyes On Potential Erik Ten Hag Replacement

Manchester United may have just figured out their new boss as per sources with Erik ten Hag on the hitlist. Despite speculations about his residence at the club taking a new turn with a heroic display in the FA Cup final that saw United storming into the Europa after trumping over Manchester City, it is believed that he may still get the axe.

As per the latest reports, Manchester United is looking at Roberto de Zerbi as a potential replacement for the Dutchman. De-Zerbi’s style of play that advocates possession-based football has caught the eye of Sir Jim Ratcliffe who currently helms football operations at Manchester United after buying 27.7 percent stake in the club last year.

As reported by the Guardian, De Zerbi has been contacted by United already to succeed Ten Hag who possibly will be on his way out. The Italian manager was leading Brighton and has decided to bid adieu to the Seagulls by mutual consent.

Apart from De Zerbi, the other contenders vying for the post include the prized likes of Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Frank. In fact, rumours go deep enough to linking Zinedine Zidanne to this current United squad too.

Here is what Erik Ten Hag had to say about his future at Manchester United

Talking after the FA Cup triumph on his future, Ten Hag said, “I am in a project. We are exactly where we want to be. We are constructing a team. When I took over it was a mess. The team is developing and winning. It is about winning trophies. The team plays to an identity. You need a strong squad.”

He further added, “Two trophies in two years is not bad. I am not satisfied. If they don’t want me any more I will go [somewhere else] to win trophies because that is what I do in my whole career.”

Tuchel was the one leading the list formerly to be the replacement of ETH but with all the names in the mix, anything can be a possibility. In fact a few sources also say that Ten Hag may have another shot at redemption and with better resources.
