Matthew Hayden picks IPL 2023 team of the tournament; leaves out Virat Kohli

Former Australian cricketer Mathew Hayden has picked his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 team of the tournament. His team is pretty balanced and his filled with exceptional talent. But what caught the attention of many was he didn’t pick Virat Kohli in the team. The RCB batter scored over 600 runs along with two centuries.

The orange cap winner Shubman Gill will open the innings alongside Chennai Super Kings batter Ruturaj Gaikwad in Mathew Hayden’s IPL 2023 team of the tournament. While Gill scored 890 runs whereas Gaikwad amassed 590 runs for the team this year.

Far du Plessis, who scored over 700 runs this season, is slotted at No.3 in Mathew Hayden’s IPL 2023 team of the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav, who had his best season in the league with 605 runs to his name, will bat at No.4. The former Australian cricketer then picked Cameron Green at 5. The lanky all-rounder scored 452 runs and also picked 6 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja, who picked 20 wickets and also was decent with the bat this year is picked by Mathew Hayden at No.6. Whereas IPL 2023 winning captain MS Dhoni will keep wickets and will also be the skipper of the team.

Afghanistan spin twins of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad are the two spinners in the side. They picked 27 wickets and 16 wickets respectively in the games they played. Mohammad Shami, who won purple cap with 28 wickets, and Mohit Sharma, who picked 27 wickets, are the two pacers in Hayden’s IPL 2023 team.
