“My favourite team is Australia, but…,” Glenn McGrath picks hot favourites to win ICC World Cup 2023

ICC World Cup 2023 will begin from 5th October.

Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath picks hot favourites to win the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that although his favourite team is Australia but hosts India will be the team to win the tournament.

The much anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup is around three months away from now. The biggest carnival in International cricket has kept everyone on their toes. The ICC World Cup 2023 will be played from 5th October with the final set to take place on 19th November.

India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands will be clashing with each other to win the title. These teams will be playing each other in 48 matches at 10 venues in India.

With the tournament just two months away from us, many fans and pundits have started picking their favourites to win the tournament. The latest to join the bandwagon is former Australian pacer, Glen McGrath. The former pacer backed India to win the tournament.

Speaking to onmanorama, he said: “My favourite team is Australia, but I don’t see any reason why India can’t win the titleAustralia, England, India, and Pakistan are the top title contenders. Among them, India have the best chance of lifting the title. Apart from having the advantage of playing the tournament on home soil, India possess a strong team.

Glenn McGrath further went on to highlight what separates India from other teams. He pointed out the quality of batters, bowlers, and all-rounders they possess. He added:

“The Men in Blue have some of the best batters, bowlers, and all-rounders in their ranks. The form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be vital to their chances. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja add to India’s strength. Besides, the return of Jasprit Bumrah will bolster their bowling attack.”
