“I don’t believe in last minute decisions, I know my XI for the Pakistan game,” Rohit Sharma says he has already decided who will play against Pakistan

India had played two games against Pakistan in the recent Asia Cup and had won one and lost one

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma has said that he knows which 11 players will take the field for India in the game against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup and he has already conveyed that to all those players as well.

Rohit Sharma, along with the captains of the 15 other teams who will participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup, was addressing the press conference today and when he was asked if he was still undecided about his XI for the big game against Pakistan, which will be India’s first game in the tournament, the Indian captain said that he has made his decision already because he doesn’t believe in last minute decisions.

It would be interesting to see what combination India goes with because they have got a lot of options to create different combinations. If they decide to play an extra batsman in the form of Deepak Hooda and have Hooda and Hardik as the 6th bowler of the team, then Axar Patel can bat at no. 8 and India’s batting will have a bit more depth.

However, India can go with the other combination as well, where they slot Axar at no. 7, don’t play Deepak Hooda and play an extra specialist spinner instead.

It remains to be seen if India starts with Chahal or Ashwin in the T20 World Cup

India also has to decide about the three fast bowlers whom they want to play in the first game. Now Mohammed Shami has been named as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement, but since Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep and Harshal were already in the squad before him, it’s likely that those three will play ahead of Shami.

It remains to be seen if India decides to go with an extra spinner, if they go with Yuzvendra Chahal or the more experienced Ravichandran Ashwin. In the two warm up games that India played in Western Australia, both got a game each. While Chahal got a couple of wickets in the first game, Ashwin ended with a three wicket haul in the second one.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
