“As A Captain, I Can’t Figure Out”- Shreyas Iyer Says He Finds It Hard To Set Field For Prithvi Shaw

Former Indian U-19 cricket team captain Prithvi Shaw is famous for his attacking approach. Shaw can change the game in the powerplay overs itself with his ability to score boundaries in quick succession. The right-handed batter has dominated the bowlers in his last two innings of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, recording back-to-back fifties. Shreyas Iyer recently named the weak point of Prithvi Shaw also.

In his last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Shaw smashed a match-winning half-ton for the Delhi Capitals team. Opening the innings for the Delhi Capitals, Shaw scored 51 runs off 29 deliveries. Kolkata Knight Riders had the in-form Umesh Yadav in their bowling attack, but Shaw destroyed the KKR bowling attack with his seven fours and two sixes.

Opposition skipper Shreyas Iyer admitted that he finds it difficult to set a field for Shaw because he is a player who can score boundaries even if he sets a tight field.

“Prithvi Shaw is a type of batsman who can change the game in the powerplay. I’ve played with him before, obviously. He hits the good shots and even as a captain, I can’t figure out how to set the field for him,” Iyer was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation yesterday.

Shreyas Iyer also named the one weak point of Prithvi Shaw

It looked like Shaw would become the first Indian to score a century in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, Shreyas Iyer introduced Varun CV, who rattled the stumps of Shaw. During the same chat, Iyer added:

“Prithvi is someone who doesn’t go really big against spinners. Since he got a really good start, I tried to restrict the momentum that they got.”

While Varun CV managed to get the wicket of Shaw, he ended up conceding 44 runs in his four-over spell. Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Delhi Capitals by 44 runs.
