It is not a surprise to witness a lot of families who took to the game of cricket. Interestingly, a few have also been involved in different World Cups. A similar scenario is likely to happen soon. A few coaches, who were at the helm of affairs in the 2007 ODI World Cups, will have their relations take the field in India later this year. 1) John Bracewell (Head Coach of New Zealand in 2007 WC) – Doug Bracewell (Nephew)

John was the Head Coach of the Kiwis in the 2007 World Cup. His nephews Doug and Michael are an active part of the New Zealand setup. Michael is currently injured and will miss the ODI World Cup.

Although Doug has not played ODI cricket for a while, considering his experience and attributes, he could be considered for the team. A bowling all-rounder, he has the skills needed to excel on Indian pitches. Therefore, he is on this list.

2) Kevin Curran (Head Coach of Zimbabwe in 2007 WC) – Sam Curran (Son)

Kevin Curran is one of the Head Coaches in the 2007 ODI WC whose relations might play in the 2023 ODI WC. The late Kevin Curran is the father of Sam, Tom and Ben, all of whom ply their trade in England.

Out of the three, Sam looks the most likely to find a place in the World Cup squad. Having won the Player of the Tournament award in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Sam has proved his potential on the big stage. Moreover, England needs a good medium-pace bowling all-rounder and Sam fits the bill perfectly. Also, he knows the Indian pitches well. Hence, his presence will be vital for England the defend the trophy later this year.
