Four Players Whose Fortunes Changed After A Shuffle In Their IPL Teams

Change in IPL teams have seen lots of players completely coming out in overwhelmingly different avatars. What was expected of them in their first stint was somehow subdued and as soon as the jersey changed, the fortunes changed as well for them. In one such story we will take a look at four players whose fortunes changed completely with a shift in their IPL teams.

This shift includes the kind of consistency that they stitched and also followed it up with a slew of impressive displays, laying waste to opposition at will, bringing out the heavy artillery frequently and most importantly, almost single-handedly winning matches for their respective teams.

Suryakumar Yadav

It won’t be fair if we say that Suryakumar Yadav didn’t really have the best of stats for KKR. The only problem was that he used to come way too deep in the innings and by the time he would get his eyes in, the number of balls that were left for him to hammer his way to life were pretty much on the lower side. However, the Purple and Gold Brigade did have glimpses of how dangerous he could be. However, unable to crack the SKY code, they let him go and Mumbai Indians wasted no time at all in getting him in their hallowed ranks and what followed thereafter was brutal carnage. He now leads the Mumbai Indians batting line up and his change in the IPL team has also produced a change in his fortunes for the national team.

AB de Villiers

Delhi Capitals were expecting that they have had a steal when they landed the big name of AB de Villiers in their ranks in the wee hours of the IPL. However, as fortune would have it, the South African giant would take his own sweet time to settle down and after a couple of reticent seasons, despite qualifying for the semi-finals in the opening season, ABD was allowed to go and the team that came knocking on the doors, rather banging them open was none other than the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The rest they say is history. Ask for all the glittering records and ABD is a part of them.

David Warner

The Australian opener did have his initial bursts of excellence in the colours of Delhi Daredevils now rechristened as the Delhi Capitals but somehow he did seem inhibited in his approach. The usual Warner that we are accustomed to or the one who bagged three Orange Caps in the tournament came all guns blazing when he joined the Orange Army. Menacing and famished in his exploits, David Warner was absolutely swashbuckling for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and was a key figure when they lifted the trophy in 2016.

Jos Buttler

The hard-hitting English wicket-keeper is deemed as one of the stalwarts of T20 cricket and somehow his days in the Mumbai Indians set-up were marred by mediocrity. Eventually, when he joined the Rajasthan Royals, he came all guns blazing and showcased his true character with the willow in his hands. He almost jeopardized Virat Kohli’s records of 5 centuries but eventually would fall short of the finish line. One of the chief architects for Rajasthan Royals to arrive in the grand finale in the 2022 edition was Jos Buttler.
