Having set a total of just 186 in the first innings, it appeared that the visitors would win the game at one point. However, the Bangladesh lower order stepped up to give a fine victory for the hosts. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as India loses the first ODI against Bangladesh.
India loses the first ODI against Bangladesh
Batting first, India lost its first three wickets for not much on the board. Although Rohit Sharma got a start, he was not able to continue. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul steadied the ship but the former fell for 24 runs. It was down to KL Rahul to take India to a respectable total. With the help of Washington Sundar, KL helped India cross 150. However, a collapse meant that the men in blue could make just 186 runs. Shakib Al Hasan picked five wickets and was the star for Bangladesh. Ebadot Hossain was also brilliant with four scalps.
Chasing a relatively easy target against an inexperienced bowling attack, Bangladesh was the favourite at the break. However, the Indian bowlers had other ideas. Barring Litton Das, no one got going for the hosts. The Indian fielders were in top form as they made run-scoring hard for Bangladesh. The likes of Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Sen and Washington Sundar were all amongst the wickets. That said, in the end, Mehidy Hasan had a fine outing. He constructed a fine partnership with the last batter to give a great win for his team.
Twitter reacts to the terrific feat by the Bangladesh squad
