“Few shots I played today that I have definitely learnt from Virat Kohli,” Marnus Labuschagne on his 49-run knock in the first innings of the Nagpur Test

Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne opened up about his 49-run knock in the first innings of the ongoing Nagpur Test against India. He said that a few of the shots that he played in innings, he learned them from Virat Kohli.

India and Australia are currently locking horns in the first Test of the four-match series in Nagpur. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. However, it wasn’t a fruitful start for them as Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami bowled impeccable lines and lengths to send Usman Khawaja (1) and David Warner (1) respectively packing for just 2 runs.

But after that Marnus Labuschagne was been highly impressive as he along with Steve Smith steadied the ship and made sure that they build good platforms. In what was his first innings in India, Labuschagne batted well against the likes of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

Labuschagne played some staggering shots in his innings and stitched a crucial partnership with Steve Smith (37) that powered Australia to a total of 177 runs. The batter batted for 123 balls and scored 49 runs with the help of 8 boundaries before he was stumped on the ball of Ravindra Jadeja.

Following his innings, Labuschagne said that few of the shots that he played, he learned them from Virat Kohli. Speaking to Sen Cricket, he said: “There are few shots I played today that I have definitely learnt from Virat Kohli”.

During his innings, Indian batter Virat Kohli showed his admiration for the cover drive played by him. The duo were engaged in a friendly conversation and Labuschagne has opened up about it. He said,“It’s always nice that Kohli thinks you have played a decent shot”.
