2 captains in 2024 T20 World Cup who could be dropped permanently from the side

Usually, after a captain performs badly in an ICC event, he or she loses the captaincy. In rare cases, a captain loses a place in the side itself. However, this is set to happen for a few captains after the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two captains in the 2024 T20 World Cup who could be dropped permanently from the side.

1) Babar Azam

Babar Azam‘s performance in T20Is has been extremely poor in the recent months. Especially in the 2024 T20 World Cup, he struggled to make runs at a good rate. On top of this, some of his comments have been bad for both himself and the team. While he is very likely to lose his captaincy, he also deserves to lose his spot in the side.

Pakistan management must take some ruthless decisions and one of it could involve moving on from Babar Azam in the T20I setup. He has not been good with the modern demands and it is better that the squad invests in youngsters who can display better intent.

2) Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson is one of the captains in the 2024 T20 World Cup who could be dropped permanently from the side. The time might have arrived for New Zealand to do without Kane in the T20I format. It is a benefit for both the player and the team if Kane does not play in this format.

For Kane, the best position in a T20 XI is as an opener. However, New Zealand cannot afford that. Now, Kane is also suffering from frequent injuries. He is someone who is very vital in the Test and the ODI setup. Kane must prolong his career here and hence, he must take a decision with his T20I career. For New Zealand, grooming someone like Rachin Ravindra at No.3 in the T20 XI makes better sense.
