Rajasthan Royals have done well since the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. If there a mega auction before 2025, they will have some tough decisions to take. They could, interestingly, retain a few players despite it being a mega auction. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players Rajasthan Royals might surprisingly retain before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan’s trade from RR was criticised by many. However, it turned out to be a good move for both parties. Avesh is also a part of the travelling reserves for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
He is still young and already has the capacity to lead the bowling attack of an IPL Team. Considering these factors, he could be retained by the team.
2) Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma is one of the players Rajasthan Royals might surprisingly retain before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Having come to RR as a replacement player, Sandeep Sharma became an undroppable name in the RR playing XI. He has now developed his game in the death overs, as well.
Sandeep has quite a few variations and there would be a lot of teams behind him. Age-wise, he still has potential. Therefore, he could be considered for retention.
3) Dhruv Jurel
Dhruv Jurel might not have the season he would have wanted to have after his India debut. However, it is clear that he has talent and he still has a lot of time to develop. RR might not get such a player of Jurel in the auctions.
Hence, they could consider retaining him and this could be a risk, just like they did with Yashasvi Jaiswal a few years ago. That risk came off and RR will hope that it will happen again with Jurel. If given a clear role, Jurel could be a success in the future.
