3 Players Delhi Capitals Might Release Before IPL 2023

Delhi Capitals started as one of the favorites to win IPL 2022. However, the team was inconsistent throughout the season. Eventually, they finished fifth on the points table with seven wins from 14 matches. Even if they managed to beat the Mumbai Indians in their last league game, DC would have qualified for the IPL 2022 playoffs.

Playing under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, DC failed to build a winning streak this season. However, one can also say that the unavailability of some big overseas names at the start of the season coupled with the COVID-19 scare that hit DC impacted the team’s performance as well.

Nevertheless, Ricky Ponting and the rest of the team management may make some tough calls ahead of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Delhi Capitals might release the following three names from their IPL 2022 squad.

1. Delhi Capitals may not retain Tim Seifert for IPL 2023

New Zealand’s wicket-keeping batter Tim Seifert received an opportunity to cement his place in the Delhi Capitals playing XI when David Warner was unavailable. However, the Kiwi batter could not grab the golden chance.

Seifert played two matches for the Delhi-based franchise, scoring 24 runs at an average of 12. His strike rate was 126.31, but since he could not score big, he was dropped.

2. Delhi Capitals may release Mandeep Singh ahead of IPL 2023

Mandeep Singh is another player who could not impress much at the top of the order for Delhi. He played three matches, scoring 18 runs at an average of six. His strike rate was 78.26, whereas he got out for a duck twice in three innings.

3. KS Bharat

KS Bharat was a match-winner for the Royal Challengers Bangalore last season, but he was benched for the majority of the matches this season. It will be better for the player if he moves to another team and plays regularly rather than warming the benches.

Vinay
