2 Players unlucky to miss the ODI series against Sri Lanka

BCCI on Tuesday (27th December) named a 16-member squad for three-match series which will be led by Rohit Sharma. The squad saw notable changes as Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the team whereas KL Rahul has been sacked as the vice-captain with Hardik Pandya getting the role. There were a few players missing out as well and as the home season is about to get started, we take a look at 2 Players unlucky to miss the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Sanju Samson

It’s fair to say that Sanju Samson is the unluckiest Indian cricketer. Despite good performances in the domestic circuit, IPL and the limited opportunities in the national side, the keeper batter hasn’t been given a consistent run in the team. He did a good job against West Indies and Zimbabwe before playing staggering knocks against a full-strength South African team. Samson then played only ODI against New Zealand and was benched for the next two games due to team combination before getting rested for Bangladesh ODIs. Samson has now found himself in the T20I side but was dropped from the ODI team for the Sri Lanka series. In just 11 games, the keeper batter has scored 330 runs at a staggering average of 66.0 with 2 fifties.

Shardul Thakur

Another Indian player who is unlucky to miss the ODI series against Sri Lanka is Shardul Thakur. The Mumbaikar has been a regular member of the team in the ODIs and barring the series against New Zealand, he has been performing well. He was on top with his bowling in the ODIs against Bangladesh and put his team in the comfortable positions in all the three games. But now has been dropped from the Sri Lanka series. In the 31 games, he has picked 44 wickets at an economy of 6.
