Watch: Nepal’s Amazing Gesture Which Could Win The ICC Spirit Of Cricket Award

The game of cricket has never failed to set an example on the field. On February 14th, the game between Ireland and Nepal produced yet another such incident. It was a brilliant decision by Nepal which is now winning hearts across the globe. In this article, we take a look at the move by the Nepal Cricket Team that could see them win the ICC Spirit Of Cricket Award for the year 2022.

Nepal’s brilliant gesture on a cricket field

In the Oman Quadrangular T20I series, Nepal and Ireland were involved in a game on Monday. Batting first, Ireland struggled to make a lot of runs. Towards the end of the innings, there was a moment on the field, that is one of the best incidents on a cricket field of this year so far. Here is the clip about the incident:

Mark Adair looked to hit the ball far but it ended up pretty close to the playing area. The Irish pair tried to sneak in a single and that is when Andy McBrine slipped on the field. It was accidental and it almost cost his wicket. The bowler threw the ball towards the wicket-keeper Aasif Sheikh. He collected the ball well but did not dismantle the stamps. He had plenty of time to do it but did not get the batsman out because he had an accidental fall. The commentators were in awe of the gesture. The game was eventually won by Ireland.

ICC Spirit Of Cricket Award

The “Spirit of Cricket” is always a much-debated topic in cricket. Every year, ICC hands out an award to honour a brilliant gesture on the field. Sandeep Lamichhane’s Nepal has already sent in an early nominee with a great decision on the field. A few cricketers such as James Neesham have already appreciated the gesture.
