Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has predicted the winners for the upcoming ICC WTC Final. He said that although it’s difficult to pick the favourites but India will have a slight edge as they defeated England on the very same pitch last time.
“Very difficult to say who are the favourites,” says AB de Villiers
The excitement for the ICC World Test Championship 2023 is building up. We are just one day away from the as the final is set to take place from June 7 to 11 at the Oval with a reserve day in place (12 June).
Australia and India will clash with each other in the big match and it’s fair to say that game will keep every cricket lover on their toes. The two teams over the period of the last two overs have put in hard yards and have been rewarded with a place in the final.
The preparations are almost done as the exciting clash awaits us. The photoshoots have been done as well and both the teams too have made ready themselves ready for the game. With just one day remaining for the game, many have picked their favourites for the game.
AB de Villiers is the latest entrant to join the list. He said that picking the favourites for the is quite tough because both the teams didn’t have played lots of Test match of late. But according to him, India will be high on confidence after the win over England at the oval last time. He said:
“Very difficult to say who are the favourites. Both teams have not been playing a lot of Test cricket of late but what I can say is that India in their last Test match at the Oval has got a win against this very strong England team. They will be taking a bit of confidence from that,” said De Villiers.
“I think India will come out on top on day five of the Test match,” AB de Villiers backs India to win ICC WTC Final
AB de Villiers further backed India to win the game. He said that the pitch at the oval is good but Indian spinners will play a huge part in the game. He elaborated:
“I think India will come out on top on day five of the Test match. I think it might go all the way. It’s a good wicket to bat on but I think the Indian spinners will come into play in the latter stages of the Test match,”
India hasn’t won an ICC trophy since 2013 and would be eager to end the drought. It remains to be seen if Rohit Sharma brings them the cup or not.
