2 middle-order players CSK could try to open the innings in IPL 2023

CSK will try and get their campaign on track in order to make a solid turnaround of affairs after somewhat of a reticent 2022. They were not in the best of shapes and there were some serious rifts in the team that saw a change in captaincy midway and one of their best players falling out with the management.

However, as they say where MS Dhoni is there, anything can be possible and with all said and done, he made Ravindra Jadeja come back to the side for 2023. There will be a lot of discussions that will be doing the rounds about how Chennai Super Kings would like to go about their opening pair particularly after Ruturaj Gaikwad has failed to conjure something significant since 2022.

Here are two batters who can possibly be the best fit for Chennai’s opening slot in case if they are planning to shake up with more options from the middle-order:

Moeen Ali:

Usually the English all-rounder comes out to bat at number three but then again given his inclination for those massive hits that he is able to knit, maybe CSK can use him to try and accelerate their powerplay. He has this natural instinct of taking the aerial route and that is exactly what makes him a fearsome opener right up top. So in case if CSK wants an option from their middle-order to do them the honours, Moeen can very well be their pennant-bearer.

Shivam Dube:

The hard-hitting southpaw showed his true class against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022 as he smashed a full-blown 90 plus knock and eventually showed his true class with a cracker of an innings. However, his consistency was a major challenge and it is expected that he will try and get the better of himself in the forthcoming edition. Considering his raw strength, CSK can try and use him in the opening slot considering his eye for the bigger hits which would be easier when the field restrictions are in place.
