IPL 2023: It’s time for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 16th edition of the league is all set to kick start from 31st March with the final set to take place on 28th May. The season-opener will be played b between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. The first game no doubt will be extremely important for both sides as it’ll set the tempo for the whole tournament.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a horrible campaign last year as they ended 9th on the points table. They would be hoping to turn things around this time. They have a pretty balanced squad this season as they brought some big names in the auction along with exciting talent.
Talking about their playing XI for the first game, it’s a no-brainer that Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway will open the innings for CSK in the first game. The duo were extremely successful as a duo last year and is expected to continue at the top.

CSK’s new recruit Ben Stokes is likely to bat at No.3 for the team in the first game whereas Ambati Rayudu is likely to retain his place in the side like last year at No.4. The right-hander is expected to play a crucial role for the team. All-rounder Shivam Dube, who was a brutal force for the team last year, is likely to be slotted at No.5. He played some enthralling knocks last season and can play a similar role this time as well.
Moeen Ali is likely to play the role of floater in the team whereas skipper MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to be slotted at 7 and 8. The batting order of the team can vary as they have different players for different situations.
Deepak Chahar and Mukesh Choudhary are expected to be the two frontline pacers in the team whereas Maheesh Theekshana is likely to be the third spinner along with Jadeja and Ali.
