Former Indian captain Kapil Dev is not happy at all with the way Virat Kohli spoke in his press conference yesterday where he said he wasn’t communicated before his sacking as the ODI captain of India, and it was only on the day of sacking that he got to know it from the chairman of selectors.
Kohli, in his press conference, also contradicted the statement of the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who had said that the board had requested Kohli not to give up the T20I captaincy and since he gave up, the board had to sack him as the ODI captain as well.
It was disclosed by Kohli that the board did not have any problems with him resigning as the T20I captain and the office bearers as well as the selectors present in the meeting actually appreciated his call saying it was a progressive call.
With Kohli directly contradicting the statement of the BCCI president himself, it took the Indian cricket by storm as people demanded a clarification from the board to know exactly what was going on and who was coming out with the correct version of the story.
However, Kapil Dev thinks the press conference should have been handled by Kohli in a better way. Even if he was told about his sacking on the day of the sacking itself, there is nothing offensive about it because the chairman of selectors took the decision and conveyed to him, which is all that is required.

Kapil Dev is also of the opinion that players should be avoiding speaking against the BCCI president because it’s about the reputation of the country’s cricket and BCCI is the governing body of cricket in the country.
While talking to ABP news, Kapil recalled his own sacking as the Indian captain a year after winning the World Cup and said he was also hurt, but for him, nothing mattered more than playing for the country.

This is after a long while that BCCI has sacked an Indian captain. After the sacking of Sourav Ganguly which happened back in 2005, the next two Indian captains Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni resigned on their own and were not handed a sack.
Kohli was also not sacked as the T20I captain, he stepped down on his own and it was after his stepping down from the shortest form of the game, he was handed a sack in the ODIs as well.
