Former Telugu Titans captain Siddharth Desai is one of the most successful raiders in the Pro Kabaddi League. However, the Telugu Titans seem to have let go of him ahead of the Pro Kabaddi League 9 Auction. The Telugu Titans have not retained any of the players from their last season’s team in the ‘Elite Retained Players’ category, meaning Siddharth Desai has not been retained.
Desai started his career with U Mumba, where his excellent raiding skills established him as one of the new stars of the league. The Mumbai-based franchise released him, and then, Siddharth Desai became a player of the Telugu Titans squad.

After spending multiple seasons with Titans, he is back in the auction pool now. Shedding some light on his numbers in recent seasons, Desai could play only three matches in season eight, where he scored 35 points. While his average was 11.33 raid points per match, Desai missed a majority of the matches due to his injury issues.
Did the injury issues of Siddharth Desai force Telugu Titans to release him?
The Titans team management showed enormous faith in Siddharth Desai as they named him as the captain for the eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. Also, Desai was one of the highest-paid players of the franchise in the last two seasons. Another reason could be to increase their purse value and buy him back at a lower price.

He is a match-winner, but he cannot win matches when he is injured. It looks like the Titans want to try out a new player now. They have also released Rohit Kumar who was their vice-captain and led the team in a few matches.
The Titans have been a part of the tournament since the first edition but they have never qualified for the final. It should not be a surprise if the team management decides to go for a full revamp at this year’s Pro Kabaddi League auction.
