Who Won yesterday’s IPL match between CSK and DC

Who won yesterday’s IPL match: CSK and DC faced off in the second game of IPL 2021 at Wankhede. DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to field first. CSK fielded a batting heavy side as Tahir was looked over once again while Bravo got Dhoni’s backing. DC were without their first choice seam bowling lineup and handed debuts to Tom Curran and Chris Woakes.

Raina returns

CSK’s opening woes from last season continued as Faf du Plessis and Gaikwad were dismissed early. Raina and Moeen Ali combined for the third wicket and got back some momentum to CSK’ side. Ali in particular looked in devastating touch and was dismissed after a quickfire 36.

DC employed a confusing two spinner strategy against Raina who loves playing against slow bowlers. Raina muscled Ashwin and Mishra to all parts of the ground and scored a 32 ball 50 which was full of nostalgic shots. However, a mini-collapse ensued as Raina and Dhoni were dismissed in the same over by Avesh Khan.

A late assault from Sam Curran and a decent cameo from Jadeja helped CSK to an above par score of 188.

Dhawan and Shaw dismantle CSK

Chasing 189, Shaw and Dhawan raced off to a brisk start. Shaw continued his incredible Vijay Hazare form and played some scintillating shots through the offside. DC looked in complete control as they scored boundaries and rotated the strike in every over.

Shaw was finally dismissed by Dwayne Bravo after a fluent 38 ball 72 and Rishabh Pant walked in at number 3. Dhawan switched gears after Shaw’s departure and exploited the vacant cow corner region by sweeping the pacers. Dhawan departed on 85 and with 167 on the board, the game was already in the bag.

Stoinis and Rishabh Pant finished without any unnecessary risk as DC looked a huge chase look like a child’s play.
