Batting first, South Africa had a quiet start as they lost the wicket of Quinton de Kock early. Mohammed Siraj was in top form as he had an impact in the powerplay. The Proteas later lost their other opener, Janneman Malan, also early. Debutant Shahbaz Ahmed had the player out LBW. It was then that South Africa had a strong partnership between Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram. This, along with some fine cameos at the end, helped South Africa reach a total of 278-7.
India yet again had an unimpressive start with the bat. Both Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill could not add much to the score. However, both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer stepped up and then it became a matter of time before India won the match. While Ishan Kishan scored 93 runs from 84 balls, Iyer made 113 of 111 deliveries. Sanju Samson assisted Iyer in finishing the match.

It was a good race for the Player of the Match Award. Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer all had impact performances. However, it was Iyer who won the award.
Iyer’s form was not that great in recent months. However, so far, he has done well in this series. He will be in the T20 World Cup on the standby list. Therefore, his form is important to Team India because, in case of an injury, there is a player high on confidence who is already available.
