“Where is the impact player??” – Twitter reacts as IPL captains pose with the trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium

The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner. It is less than a day away from getting underway. Chennai Super Kings will take on Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It remains to be seen which teams will brave the challenges and go on to win the title this time around. In the last edition, Gujarat Titans were the thrusting force in the competition as they made it all the way to the finals.

They were also clinical enough in the final and got the better of Rajasthan Royals to win their maiden IPL title in their debut season. Hardik Pandya and Co couldn’t be any happier after winning the trophy.

It remains to be seen whether or not Gujarat Titans will defend the title. So far in the history of the IPL, only two teams defended the trophy. Chennai Super Kings (IPL 2010, 2011) and Mumbai Indians (IPL 2019, 2020) are the only two teams that achieved the feat.

Meanwhile, just a day before the start of the IPL, the captains have come together and posed with the trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The picture of the same went viral on the internet.

Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings), Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore), MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders), KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants), David Warner (Delhi Capitals), Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals), Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad) posed for a picture together at the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Surprisingly, the fans noticed that there was one important name missing from the picture and he is none other than Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be leading Sunrisers Hyderabad only for the first match as Aiden Markram is ruled out of the team’s opening fixture owing to national duty.
