“Bad news for Punjab Kings” – Twitter reacts as Liam Livingstone is set to miss the opening match for Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings are one of the very few teams that haven’t won the IPL since the inception of the tournament. Having been a part of the competition since 2008, they made it to the playoffs only on two occasions.

They qualified for the playoffs in the inaugural season where they ended up reaching the semis and failed to extend their dominance beyond that. However, in IPL 2014 season, they were a different team altogether.

The Mohali-based franchise not only qualified for the playoffs but also made it to the finals for the first time in their journey. Needless to say, they surrendered at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

Since that, they have been going through a series of inconsistent results. They finished sixth on the table in the last three seasons of the competition, which goes to show that they haven’t been able to compete with top teams.

Liam is awaiting a fitness clearance from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after recuperating from a knee injury that he sustained last year in December.

They will miss the services of the productive all-rounder in that game. Liam Livingstone is one of the biggest hitters in the game and has the potential to clear the balls out of the park with relative ease.

He is expected to join the PBKS camp soon such that he will be available to play in the second game.
