“Back to where they belong”, Twitter reacts as Chennai Super Kings march to the top of the table with a win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in IPL 2023

It was almost ideal for CSK. They went across the country to Eden Gardens, outnumbered the home team’s fans by a sea of yellow, and put on a show worthy of their fervent backing. CSK’s explosive powerplay began with Ruturaj and Devon Conway, the latter of whom added another fifty. The innings was then molded by two players who had been mostly overlooked before this IPL. Two Mumbai natives, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane, both play for Chennai and completely annihilated Kolkata at the Eden.

Today’s encounter is the ninth time in IPL history that 30 or more sixes have been struck, and CSK has been a part of seven of those nine occurrences.

Then, their bowling attack got off to a great start, with two early wickets thanks to Akash Singh and Deshpande. After a slow start, KKR’s innings picked up steam when Jason Roy, who didn’t open due to an injury, came out swinging for the fences. He got to fifty off only 19 balls, and Rinku Singh had another impressive cameo, but ultimately it was too much for them to overcome. In addition, the CSK bowling team deserves a lot of praise for keeping the economy rate below eight with two bowlers as the opposition wanted to chase 235.
