James Anderson: The Ashes 2023 series has been keeping everyone on its toes and it’s fair to say that it’s an indication that Test cricket is well and truly alive. England and Australia played a high-quality brand of cricket as both the games went down the wire and there wasn’t any surety about who will win.
The series has been slightly in favour of Australia but England is not too far behind. The score currently stands at 2-1 and it promises to be another two great games. The fourth game of the series will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from 19th July and it’ll be a virtual series decider.
Going into the game, England will be going with quite a few headaches in the bowling department as they have faced quite a few injuries. But it is learned as per reports in Guardian that James Anderson is likely to be back for the team in the 4th Test in Manchester.
James Anderson looked clueless in the first two games. He struggled to get going but was rested for the third game owing to his poor performances in the two games. The pacer struggled with rhythm and even failed to take wickets.
But with the kind of bowler he is it is expected that he will make a roaring comeback. James Anderson has been carrying the load of England’s bowling lineup for quite a while. His on-field record speaks for itself as he is the leading wicket-taker in the test bowler for fast bowlers 685 wickets to his name. Apart from this, he has taken 32 five-wicket hauls and 3 ten-wicket hauls in the longest format of the game.

Stuart Broad also feels that James Anderson can put his issues behind and he’s expecting a big performance from him in a high-pressure game. He explained:
“But Jimmy has been one of the world’s best bowlers for a long time and he can put those issues behind him. He’s bowled goodness knows how many overs at Old Trafford and I’m expecting a big performance from him in a high-pressure game.”
Ashes 2023 currently stands at 2-1 with Australia in the lead. The next match is slated to take place in Manchester from 19th July.
