Adam Gilchrist predicts Australia will win the Border Gavaskar Trophy series by 2-1

The Australian cricket team have already arrived in India for the all-important Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Team India. Aussies will have to work beyond their bounds of possibility in order to churn out a positive result in India.

Every time when they arrived in India, it has been a hostile environment for them, when it comes to the Test format. Aussies haven’t tasted the true taste of a series win in India since 2004.

The last time when the Aussies came to India in 2017, they got off to a superb start to the game by beating Team India by 333 runs in the Test opener. However, they failed to capitalise on the start as they went on to lose the Test series by 2-1.

In the subsequent year, India travelled all the way to Australia for the BGT series where they went on to win the Test series in Australia for the first time in history. India achieved the feat under the then-captaincy of Virat Kohli.

During India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21, Team India once again emerged as the victorious side, this time under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane. India won the Test series against the Aussies by 2-1 and chipped in with their second-consecutive Test series win in Australia.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is just a couple of days away from getting underway, with the first Test slated to be held at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
