The T20 World Cup which is going to happen in 2020 in Australia has been postponed to 2022 but the T20 World Cup which is going to happen in 2021 is right on schedule. India who hosted the last T20 World Cup in 2016 will host the next one as well which will take place later this year. The 2016 T20 World Cup was a huge success and this would be the same. Most of the teams are gearing up for the T20 World Cup and it will be a highly contested tournament.
The tournament will take place in October and November with the Final to be played on 14th November. BCCI has shortlisted some venues for this event and most of them are great T20 venues. The main question is that where will the Grand Final of this tournament take place. So, let’s have a look at five stadiums that could host ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Final.
5. MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai which is also known as the Chepauk recently hosted the first two Tests between India and England. The crowds weren’t allowed in the first Test but in the second Test, even a 50% crowd made the atmosphere electric. The crowd in Chennai has always been supporting and it enjoys high-quality cricket.
We have seen in the IPL that it is a great stadium to host T20s and with a capacity of close to 50,000, it will be a great sight to watch in the Final. A couple of IPL Finals have been played at this venue and the MA Chidambaram Stadium wouldn’t be a bad option for the T20 World Cup Final.
4. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore
The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is always full when there is a T20 played at this venue. We have seen the crowd giving its full support to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Imagine a Virat Kohli or a Chris Gayle walking out in the Final at this venue.
The crowd will go crazy if something like that happens. The pitch at this venue is good for batting and we could witness a high-scoring Final if it is held at this venue. It will be interesting to see whether the Final takes place at this special venue.
3. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Another venue where the atmosphere will always be electric for any game. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is a world-class stadium and it has the experience of hosting big games as they hosted the Final of the 2011 World Cup and the semi-final of the 2016 T20 World Cup.
It is a good batting strip and big runs could be scored at this ground. There is no doubt that the stadium will be jam-packed if the Final of the T20 World Cup 2021 is held at this venue which is also the home ground of Mumbai Indians.
2. Eden Gardens, Kolkata
One of the most famous and old grounds in India is the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This venue has hosted many special games which include the first Pink Ball Test and most importantly the Final of the 2016 T20 World Cup.
It is quite a spectacle at this venue when Carlos Braithwaite hit those four sixes off four balls to win the T20 World Cup for West Indies. Eden Gardens is never a bad option to host a special game and with a capacity of more than 65,000, it will be great to witness a high-quality game.
1. Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
The newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad recently hosted the third Test between India and England. The stadium and the facilities at that venue seem to be world-class. It looks like a ring of fire in the nighttime and it is great to watch even on the TV screen.
It has a capacity of more than 1,00,000 people and if the Final is held at this venue then there is a high chance, we might get a record audience for this game. There is no doubt that all the teams would like to play the Final of the T20 World Cup at this special venue. It will be great to watch such a huge crowd cheering in such an important game.
