5 former Head Coaches in IPL who never played International Cricket

Usually, in the Indian Premier League, we have former cricketers doing the role of a Head Coach. However, on several occasions, a team has had a Head Coach who never played any form of international cricket. It is interesting that these coaches reached a level of doing a gig in the IPL, without the experience of an international cricketer. Here, we take a look at the list of five former Head Coaches in IPL who never played International Cricket.

1) Mike Hesson

Mike Hesson is a popular name in this regard. He was the Head Coach of Punjab Kings and then, at RCB, he held the role of the Director of Cricket. At RCB, as well, on an interim basis, he was the Head Coach. Hesson could be a target for a few other squads.

2) Paddy Upton

Paddy Upton was the Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. However, the South African could not deliver a trophy in either of his stints. He held a role with Team India, as well.

3) Ray Jennings

Ray Jennings is one of the former Head Coaches in IPL who never played International Cricket. When RCB was at its peak with the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the team, it was Jennings who was the coach of the side.

4) Trevor Bayliss

He is a successful coach in this regard. With KKR, he won two titles and for SRH and PBKS also, he enjoyed a stint. However, in recent years, he has not been at his best. It will be interesting to see if any other team picks him up.

5) Greg Shipperd

Greg Shipperd is also on this list of former Head Coaches in IPL who never played International Cricket. He was one of the initial coaches in the IPL. He was at the helm for Delhi Capitals. However, he hardly got a chance after that. That said, in the BBL, he found good success.
