Smaran R is a fantastic batter. However, SRH signing him did not make sense. SRH already has quite a few Indian batters, and their top-order is stacked with left-handers. Especially as Adam Zampa’s replacement, the franchise needed an all-rounder or a lower-order hitter. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players SRH could have picked as Adam Zampa’s replacement instead of Smaran R.
1) Dewald Brevis
The youngster would have been the perfect addition to the side in the middle order. He would have been the future of the side.
Brevis is improving as a cricketer, and since SRH can afford three foreign batters, Brevis might have been a good pick for the side.
2) Mark Chapman could have been picked as Adam Zampa’s replacement by SRH
Mark Chapman is an underrated cricketer. He has good experience of finishing games at the international level.
Therefore, SRH might have gone for him. Compared to Kamindu Mendis, he would have been a better bet for the side.
3) Michael Bracewell
Michael Bracewell would have been perfect for the side. He is exactly what is needed for the side based on current form.
Since SRH did not have a right-arm off-spinner, Bracewell would have been useful. Hence, he is on this list.
