Gujarat Titans were inconsistent in IPL 2024. They also missed a lot of key players and hence, the team could not qualify for the playoffs. Nevertheless, they now have an opportunity to make amends in the upcoming auctions. Here, we take a look at the list of three acquisitions GT should make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) A solid wicket-keeper
Wriddhiman Saha was not great in IPL 2024. BR Sharath could also not step up in the limited chances he got. Hence, GT must work hard to find a wicketkeeper who can fill the gap for now and for the future.
This is why the likes of Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel will be targeted by GT. With Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan likely to play as the openers, the wicket-keeper needs to be a middle-order batter. This will be the main target for GT.
2) A reliable left-arm pacer
A reliable left-arm pacer is one of the acquisitions GT should make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. In this era, every team needs players of all attributes to execute match-ups when needed.
Sushant Mishra was ruled out and Spencer Johnson was not exactly great. The team must find a new option for this category. There would be multiple options in the auctions. GT must look for a new-ball option and also someone who can do well with variations.
3) An experienced middle-order batter
Hardik Pandya’s absence was felt by GT in IPL 2024. There was no suitable player for No.4. The likes of David Miller are suited to play as a finisher.
Hence, in this regard, GT must find the right No.4 for the future. Preferably, if they can get an Indian option, it would help the team a lot. There are very few options but GT can pick the right one if they plan well.
