2 players who will miss 2024 T20 World Cup due to their County commitments

Usually, we see players miss a domestic tournament to represent the country. However, the opposite is set to happen in the coming weeks. For players from the associate nations, the County Teams are the primary employers. Hence, a few of them have made themselves unavailable for the upcoming T20 World Cup. It is a big blow for these teams that the experienced names will not be present in the team. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who will miss the 2024 T20 World Cup due to their County commitments.

1) Colin Ackermann

Colin Ackermann played for the Netherlands in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Considering his experience of playing in a big tournament, he would have been useful for the Dutch in the T20 World Cup.

However, the all-rounder will have to miss the competition. It needs to be seen how the Dutch management will look to fill in his absence.

2) Roelof van der Merwe

Roelof van der Merwe is one of the players who will miss the 2024 T20 World Cup due to their County commitments. The veteran cricketer did well for the team in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He picked some crucial wickets and was in good form. However, he will have to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup.

In the T20 format, the role of a left-handed off-spinner is very high. If they can have control, they can derail the innings of the opposition. The former South African cricketer has a lot of experience and has also been a part of big tournaments such as the IPL in the past. Considering these factors, he would have been handy for the Netherlands in the West Indies and the USA. His absence is a big blow for the outfit. Nevertheless, it can also be considered as a good chance for one of the youngsters to step up.
