Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer was ruled out of the Ashes 2023 after he had a recurrence of a stress fracture to his right elbow. However, not only the Ashes, he has been ruled out of the whole English summer. He was part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 but was ruled off the tournament. He played just 5 games in the league and then was called back to England to recover ahead of the Ashes. But as he reached the UK, he was deemed unfit to play. It was expected that he would play a great role in the series but he again was ruled out of action. He last played a Test match in March 2021. He is one of the most unluckiest cricketers to miss out on the England squad for the Ashes 2023.

Ben Foakes

Another unlucky player to miss out on the England squad for the Ashes 2023 is Ben Foakes. The keeper-batter was terrific for England down the order as he played staggering well. But the return of Jonny Bairstow to the team saw him getting omitted from the team. Till the time Bairstow was out, Foakes made a significant contribution for England both with bat as well as the gloves down the order. It was expected that he would play a great role for the team in the summer, but unfortunately, he has missed out from the team.
