3 players unlucky to miss out on the England squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup

England will defend its title in the West Indies and the USA. As expected, some well-known names had to miss out on the final squad. Here, we take a look at the list of three players unlucky to miss out on the England squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Before that, here is the selected squad:

England squad: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, Mark Wood

1) Jason Roy

Jason Roy has been in and out of the England Team for a while now. However, considering his recent good form at the franchise level, the selectors could have considered him.

However, the competition was intense and most of these players were doing well in the IPL. Hence, it was a bit unlucky for the veteran English opener.

2) Gus Atkinson

Gus Atkinson is one of the players unlucky to miss out on the England squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. After the ECB pulled him out of IPL 2024, many felt he was being kept ready for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

It is not sure if it is an injury issue but Gus Atkinson will consider himself unlucky to not be in the squad. The likes of Chris Jordan are a part of the pace attack while Jofra Archer has also made a return to the setup. Reece Topley, Mark Wood and Sam Curran are the other pacers.

3) Chris Woakes

In the last series that England played, Woakes was a part of the squad. Considering Reece Topley’s IPL form, Woakes would have been a good new-ball option for the team.

For Woakes, not playing in the IPL despite being in Punjab Kings might have not helped. Had he played and done well, surely, his name would have been disucssed.
