2 India players who might surprisingly feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup

India still has a few spots to freeze before the ODI World Cup. The problem lies in the fact that many of the preferred players are not completely fit. Before the 2022 T20 World Cup, we saw some surprise selections. It may not be a surprise if we witness some more interesting decisions ahead of the WC. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two India players who might surprisingly feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Washington Sundar

The recent defeats have put the problem of a long tail on the table for the management. Also, the squad does not have a good right-arm off-spinner. In this era of matchups, it may not be wise to go ahead with a squad without this type of bowler.

Hence, although he has not played much, Washington Sundar could still stand a chance to be a part of the India Team. Yes, he has been selected for the Asian Games but that is just a matter of re-prioritizing the duties for the player. Therefore, he is on this list.

2) Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna is one of the India players who might surprisingly feature in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna is back to being fit. If not for his injury, he would have been a part of the ODI squad. He can still be a part of it.

India needs players who can hit the deck consistently. Jasprit Bumrah is one option but seeing the combination of other teams, India might need another option. Prasidh can also offer good pace. The other options for India include the likes of Shardul Thakur. Depending on how the Asia Cup goes, Prasidh still has a chance to get to the Indian squad for the World Cup. It would be a big risk and surprise if he does get a spot.
